What's in a Wedding Ceremony Program?

Invitation Shoppe Program Wedding Program

Are you considering wedding programs? Although wedding programs are not a necessity, they really do add a special touch and help your guest follow along with your ceremony. As guests begin to arrive, they will appreciate a small guide explaining the ceremonies order of events, introductions of the attendants and officiants, and special words from the bride and groom. Also, programs make a lovely keepsake for everyone in attendance to enjoy for years to come! Listed below are a few guidelines to remember when creating your programs.

What to include

The first thing to include in the program is the names of the bride and groom (you are the stars of the show!) The date, time, and name of the venue with the location is also customary.

Next, you'll want to include the order of events. This should be listed chronologically so guests can follow along. Your order of events may look something like this:

  • Processional
  • Greeting/special words from officiant
  • Exchanging of vows
  • Ring Ceremony
  • Pronouncement of marriage
  • Recessional

If your ceremony has special readings or music, feel free to include these descriptions as well.

And of course, include the names of all those involved in the ceremony and wedding party, such as; the officiant, parents of bride and groom, bridesmaids, groomsmen, maid of honor, best man, flower girl/ring bearer, ushers, and musicians. Your guests will love putting names to faces of people they may have never met..(but will get to know soon at the reception!)

Style and color

When designing your ceremony programs, keeping with the same color scheme and lettering font as your invitations is a great way to keep your style theme seamless from start to finish. We can provide you with a flawless, well put together look that will evoke timeless sophistication as well as charming details unique to you!

A special note

Get creative! Do you have a special poem you would like to share with your guests? Perhaps you and your beloved have a song lyric or funny story of how you met. Many couples chose to say a special thank you to all those who helped make their wedding day a reality. Some choose to leave a note of remembrance to those loved ones who have passed. Whatever feels right to you, the program is a perfect place to reflect what makes you as a couple so special!
