As with previous years, what is "hot" in weddings always changes!
Just a few years ago, brown was in for weddings. Did you attend a wedding where the invitations were "mocha" or "chocolate" colored? Even the ink was brown!
Of course, the classic looks never change. Having a black & white traditional wedding is always a safe bet...and you won't have to look back at the photos in the future and a say..."did I really wear that?". Don't laugh, you should see the prom tuxedos from the 70's when John Travolta was in "Saturday Night Fever". Those tuxedos did make a comeback...in the movie "Dumb and Dumber".
The fun thing about weddings is that it is your chance to let your flair show! Don't be bashful, this is your day (not your mother's or your bridesmaid's). So have fun, and if you want to have your wedding in the Bronco's Football Team colors because you are a big fan...do it up in orange! We once had a couple who were getting married on Halloween, and the groom was there complete with a black cape and fangs. I can't remember, but I don't think the bride was the "bride of Frankenstein". That would have been a bad hair day!
Here are a few of the past trends and unique weddings we have done the invitations for:
A "Surprise Wedding" where the bride planned the wedding without the groom knowing he was in the wedding party. The story went like this. One day a boyfriend said to his girlfriend, "I will marry you any time you want to". She took him at his work, and came into our retail store in Arizona and the whole wedding was planned with the "groom" thinking he was going to a family reunion of the "bride's". Talk about shock therapy!
There were countless weddings last year on October 10th in 2010 at 10:10am, so they couple can say they got married on 10-10-10 at 10:10...wow!
This year will be another repeat of last year....only...you guessed it! November 11th, 2011 at 11:11am .... yup ... 11-11-11 at 11:11 (expect a repeat again in 2012! (Don't wait until 2013 ... this one has a time expiration!
Many people got married in the new millennium of 2000. We remember having many Saturday's where we could barely wait on all of the people in our small store in Mesa. Thank goodness we have Tiffany, Heather, Summer, Sheila & Chanda to keep up!
Did we mention the Halloween wedding? There was also a Victorian wedding at the Renaissance Festival. Our good friend Pastor Phil came by the store looking like he was off to a Shakespeare play...as the author.
Lastly, we will never forget the Scottish Theme wedding on the greens of the golf course. Michael McClanathan played the pipes and everyone of the guys had kilts on courtesy of www.KiltRentalsUSA.com
Whatever your plans for your special wedding day...make it a great one!
